The generally accepted definition is presented by the Project Management Institute
in its Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) as the “application of
knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in order to meet or
exceed stakeholder expectations from a project.”
The project lifecycle can be generally broken into three categories as follows:
1. Definition — the earliest part of the project, in which the purpose and
requirements are clarified.
2. Planning — the second part of the project, in whcih responsibility is assigned
and work is scheduled.
3. Implementation — the final phase in which deliverables are produced to meet
the project objectives. |
