I was not entirely convinced by the way I phrased my title to this article. Is technology just a tool that is used to improve sales? Surely, over the years it has surpasses its role and become much more than just that. But then again, considering it does facilitate so many business activities, I decided to go ahead with the title. And this article deals with the role technology can play in business.

Facilitation is the most apt word of course because it incorporates the two key things that technology has allowed for in sales – convenience and acceleration. Simply put, sales can be done more easily, and faster. So how exactly can one use technology to meet this end?

I am going to start with the more complex, and move to the simpler methods in place. Customer Relationship Management softwares are becoming quite a popular tool that businesses are using to improve sales. In fact, CRM goes beyond just improving sales and also helps in other areas related to customer relations. For instance, the CRM software helps businesses build a sound public relations system, makes it easier to generate leads, plan and executes marketing strategies, and most of all to maintain (not just create) a rapport with the clients on an individualized basis.

The databases that the CRM software creates for you will keep you updated about your valued customers. One of the best features of the CRM software is its adaptability to changing market conditions.

Another way to improve sales is by using the web as a tool. Through the internet you can target a large database of clientele to promote your product/service. In addition to just promoting it, you can also educate clients about the product/service through demos, discussions and online meetings.

Last but certainly not the least; the use of emails is by far the simplest ways in which sales can be improved for almost any kind of business. And the effectiveness of email for sales is both tested and proven. Simple it definitely is, but using email for sales purposes requires careful planning. A well-written email will definitely get you good results, and get them fast. Here are a few things to keep in mind when writing that email for sales:

1. The opening of the email should be direct and also capture the attention of the recipient.

2. One thing to keep in mind is that emails like this are rampant, and you must find a way to differentiate yourself from competitors.

    a. Mention aspects that give your product/service the edge over others

    b. Mention any impressive statistics that position your product/service as being topnotch

3. From the copywriting perspective, the email must be superior quality and engage the recipient

    a. Use catchy phrases, keep the length of email short and to the point

4. It is very important that you give all your relevant contact details

The email should end on a note that suggests that your offer, whatever it may be, is an opportunity that the recipient must not lose out on.

As is evident, it is not really about using technology as a tool to improve sales. Or more appropriately, apart from being a tool that improves sales, technology is also something that must be integrated into the business. This use of technology and its integration will impact not just sales but also make many other aspects of the business run smoothly. Most importantly, having technology by your side will ensure that your target clientele will look no further than your company for business.
